What to do with an Old Computer?
Performance fix for older computers
Older Slower Computer:
The solutions for this are somewhat limited, but the two best ones are to install more memory into the computer or to upgrade the processor. You will need to consult your documentation that came with the computer to determine how much and what type of memory your computer can use.
The second solution is to upgrade the processor. This may or may not be possible, since some computers come with their processors soldered on the motherboard. Again, consult your documentation on the computer for this information.
If neither of the above are viable choices, you may gain some additional performance by upgrading the hard drive. The results of this upgrade depends upon the size, speed and how full the old drive is. If the drive isn’t very full and the drive is a reasonably fast one, this option is not going to help that much.
If you have a computer like the one pictured - contact a museum - because there is no solution in the upgrade path!
